KELLEY HUNT (Lawrence) – an internationally acclaimed Roots R&B/Blues/Americana singer/songwriter/piano player, Kelley is a veteran of 100s of international festival stages, 6 live appearances on “A Prairie Home Companion” volumes of international radio, TV and satradio spins and the recipient of bushels of critical praise. The music crosses boundaries – an intense, intentional collision between her righteous roots and contemporary overlays. She and her band return to Russell to make this festival the official Western Kansas release party for her much-anticipated new CD “Mercy”.
This Kansas native daughter is a member of the Kansas Music Hall of Fame and a 2007 recipient of the Kansas Governor’s Award for the Arts.
"...One of the best new songwriters in the genre."
Paul de Barros SEATTLE TIMES
"Hard-driving, Gospel-influenced piano blues and ballads. Her vocals are
rich and limber - there's not a tentative bone in her body."
Brad Wheeler TORONTO GLOBE AND MAIL
"Stellar singing, songwriting and monstrous boogie-woogie piano chops."
PORTLAND OREGONIAN
"...A great voice and a magnetic stage personality, and leads a rock-solid
band. No excess showboating, just a floating bed of groovitude
for Hunt's subtly powerful voice to ride."
Garaud MacTaggart THE BUFFALO NEWS
"...I ventured to Toronto's venerable Silver Dollar and was blown away by
the talent in evidence...Hunt's fiery blasts of soul channel Bonnie
Bramlett, Maggie Bell, and even Queen Aretha herself."
